Welcome to the Pre-Transfer Advising Program at the University of Maryland*
The Pre-Transfer Advising program provides support to prospective transfer students by assessing their readiness to transfer to the University of Maryland and estimating their time to degree completion. Pre-Transfer Advisors provide advising to students from community colleges and four year schools. Advisors also work closely with staff at the Maryland community colleges.
Pre-Transfer Advisors can help students:
- Determine how transfer courses will apply to UM degrees
- Identify remaining UM general education and major requirements
- Locate specific resources to receive additional assistance
Prospective transfer students can receive advising assistance via the following methods:
- 15 minute Walk In Advising Appointments* (Monday & Thursday: 1:30pm – 4:00pm)
- 30 minute Advising Appointments* (AIM, In Person, Telephone)
- Email (transferadvising@umd.edu)
- Scheduled Community College Visits
- Telephone (301.405.9448 and 301.405.9449)
